An online course sometimes referred to as a Web-based or Web-delivered course is a class taught via the WWW. Online courses are like distance learning. You can take the course at a "distance".Online courses are also distant in time. This means you should be able to take the course without coming to campus.An online course does not have scheduled on-campus classes. It is an online learning program entirely accessed via a computer with a net connection, except for appointed examinations if required. There are simply sections of the course taught in the online medium, i.e. on the Web. Many times the index and materials are the same as you would get in the F2F class. An online instructor cannot take class as they might in an F2F class. Class material is sent via text format or multimedia. Material in an online class will be reading text on the class Web pages. Boosting that may be allocated reading from the class textbook, website links, pictures, animations, simulations, interactive modules, PPTs, audio or streamed videos. Assignments may be like filling in forms, readings, emails, online discussions, quizzes, exams, materials uploaded to the Web site, or other as determined by the instructor. In order to take an online course, you will need basic computer knowledge such as word typing, to send and receive e-mail and attachment and downloading a file. Because online courses are entirely done over the WWW.

Plan to spend as much time studying and preparing for an online course as you would on campus course. The content and accuracy of online courses need students to be self-motivated and disciplined; successful online students also possess excellent time management skills. Online courses help students who cannot come from far distances and may not be able to travel to campus for a regularly scheduled class.

  • Online courses can cause you to fall behind in your studies.
  • Technical problems in your PC or internet connections can make logging in to an online course difficult.
  • Online courses can be difficult for those who have low computer skills
  • Online courses require an impressive time commitment.

An online course does allow you to work at your locality. As an online student, should be self-motivated and disciplined. You should be punctual to login and complete work on time. You can contact to your instructor by email, phone or other methods as mentioned by your instructor.
